Elvanol 70-62 is discontinued. The substitute product is PVOH6299.
PVOH6299 is a high viscosity, fully hydrolized polyvinyl alcohol designed to provide high films with exceptional high tensile strength and tear resistance, with excellent resistance to oil, grease, petroleum hydrocarbons and other common solvents. High viscosity polyvinyl alcohol is more effective than lower viscosity polyvinyl alcohol in adhesives on a pound for pound basis.
Industries: Paper, Adhesives, Personal Care, Oil & Gas, Emulsion, Construction, Textile.
PVOH 30-99 (Elvanol® 71-30) is a medium viscosity, fully hydrolized grade of polyvinyl alcohol. White, powder, soluble in hot water but insoluble in cold water and common organic solvents. For most applications, PVOH 30-99 is prepared in water solutions. On evaporation of water, transparent films are formed which have high tensile strength and tear resistance. The binder characteristics of PVOH 30-99 offer excellent adhesion to porous, hydrophilic surfaces. Used as sizing agent for paper, textile, ceramic fiber,.... Wall paper glue.
Solution of PVOH may be applied by brush, paint roller or with spray equipment.

PVOH 62-99 is a high viscosity, fully hydrolized polyvinyl alcohol designed to provide high films with exceptional high tensile strength and tear resistance, with excellent resistance to oil, grease, petroleum hydrocarbons and other common solvents.
Polyvinyl Alcohol grade 62-99 is equivalent to Selvol™165, Elvanol 70-62, PVOH 70-62, Poval 60-98. It is also similar to Poval 56-98.
PVOH2588 is a medium viscosity (25 cPs), Partially hydrolyzed (88%) plastic that can dissolve in warm or room temperature water.
PVOH2588 compares to Elvanol® 52-22, Poval 26-88, Selvol 523 and PVA-217.
Applications include the manufacture of spiral wound tubes, coated paper and linerboard, and specialty water-soluble films. Its higher binding capacity versus synthetic latex and starch make it attractive for use in coatings. It adds strength in recycle board and adds barrier properties for improved oil and grease resistance. It is also suggested for evaluation in the stabilization of vinyl acetate, polystyrene and polyvinyl chloride emulsions. It has additional applications in remoisturizing adhesives, temporary binder for ceramics, water-soluble film, paper adhesives, cold-water-soluble film, photosensitive coatings, binder for joint compounds and textile coatings, and as a soil anti-redeposition agent.
Poly vinyl alcohol, high viscosity (49 cps for a 4% solution) and partially (88%) hydrolyzed.
This product is equivalent to PVOH5042, Elvanol® 50-42, SELVOL 540 and POVAL 49-88). PVOH4988 can dissolve in cold water (Heating or warm water is suggested for complete dissolving).
A solution of 4% provides the maximum viscosity of 47 CPS.
It offers high tensile strength and tear resistance. It is an excellent dispenser and stabilizer. PVOH 49-88 is suggested for evaluation in the stabilization of vinyl acetate, polystyrene and polyvinyl chloride emulsions. It has additional applications in re-moisturizing adhesives, temporary binder for ceramics, water-soluble film; paper adhesives, cold-water soluble film, photosensitive coatings, binder for joint compounds and texture coatings and as a soil anti-re-deposition agent. Used to make slime.

Polyvinyl Alcohol grade 22-88 is a water- soluble polymer manufactured by alcoholysis of polyvinyl acetate. The Viscosity of a 4% solution of this product is about 22 cps.
Uses as a binder in sizes due to the good penetration capacity and good adhesion properties on all types of fibrous material.
The excellent film characteristics of PVOH like high cohesion and toughness, low electrostatic charging and redissolving capacity of the dried film in water.
PVOH possesses remarkable barrier properties. Due to its insolubility in most organic solvents surfaces treated with PVOH repel oil, grease and fat.
Furthermore, PVOH displays excellent mechanical strength properties if applied as a film on paper or paperboard.
Therefore it fits well as a surface sizing agent. Many special paper grades are produced using PVOH.
OVOH is an outstanding carrier for optical brightening agents and pigments.
