Polyvinyl Alcohol 30-99, Elvanol 71-30
PVOH 30-99 (Elvanol® 71-30) is a medium-viscosity, fully hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol designed for applications requiring high tensile strength, tear resistance, and excellent adhesion to hydrophilic surfaces. This white granular polymer is soluble in hot water and forms transparent films upon evaporation. Insoluble in cold water and common organic solvents, PVOH 30-99 is widely used in the paper, textile, ceramic, and adhesive industries.
Key applications include sizing for paper and textiles, ceramic fiber binder, and wallpaper glue. PVOH 30-99 offers excellent film-forming characteristics with superior resistance to tearing and high strength, making it a versatile polymer for coatings, adhesives, and emulsions. It is often applied using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.

PVOH 30-99 is a high molecular weight, medium viscosity, fully (99%)hydrolyzed grade of polyvinyl alcohol that can dissolve in hot water. It offers high tensile strength and tear resistance. White and granular, it is soluble in hot water but insoluble in cold water and common organic solvents. For most applications, PVOH 30-99 is prepared in water solutions. On evaporation of water, transparent films are formed which have high tensile strength and tear resistance. The binder characteristics of PVOH 30-99 offer excellent adhesion to porous, hydrophilic surfaces, offers a combination of excellent film forming and binder characteristics, along with insolubility in cold water and organic solvents.
